Here is my story:
I have been an athlete my entire life then an injury and menopause set in. ?I gained weight?and I gave up.?I became LAZY. My friend who has been overweight most of her adult life inspired me. She had surgery and lost weight. I told her that in order ?to get to the finish line she needed to work out. She looked at?me and said, “So do you!”
Thus begins my journey. I got in touch with OC Fitness Mama and spoke with the owner, Stacy Rae. She invited my friend and I?in for a complementary consultation. We made the appointment and decided to get started on a workout program that would?FOREVER?change my life. ?I started with baby steps and this included two days a week in the gym. My old life bit me and it became every day. I knew that cardio every day for 30 minutes only maintains ?your weight. I stepped it up and went for 45 minutes. My cardio consists of treadmill, intervals, and biking. I also know the?importance of stretching! I have added a combination of strength training, running, power walking, interval training and PiYo. All of this combined has helped me to recover from my injuries and continue to be injury free. I am strong. I trained for and attended the Surf City Half Marathon on February 1st, 2015.?I finished the Surf City 1/2 Marathon with my second best time thanks to all of the training and hard work. It’s amazing how you can spend an hour a day to work out and stay fit.
There is something here that inspires me. Women working hard to stay in shape and be healthy is very motivating?for me. Stacy Rae and Stacey Dee inspired me to push myself and to not hold back. Both Stacy Rae and Stacey Dee have been instrumental in my success. Their encouragement and support, as well as nutritional advice with understanding the importance of proper nutrition, was very helpful. For my post-workout?shake I used a product that was introduced to me at the studio called Frezzor. It was a great way to feed my body after all of my hard workouts. ?It makes a big difference!
I’m happy to fit back into my skinny jeans! Over the last four months, I have lost 16.5 inches!!! The weight loss has not been as much as I thought because I gained lean muscle mass and that weighs more on the scale.?I went?from a women’s size 10 and can now fit into junior’s size 5?again. ?To hold myself accountable,?I checked in on my Facebook page every time I’m in the gym. I’m happy to know that my daily check-ins have inspired some of my friends to take better care of themselves. OC Fitness Mama has changed my life! ?My next challenge is in May for my first Sprint Triathlon. God willing, with the help of OC Fitness Mama, I will get there! I am continuing my journey by?living life healthy and strong!- Maureen Kilbourne
