When you workout it is very important to wear shoes that are comfortable and very supportive. If you have been wearing a pair of workout shoes that are more than 4 months old and you use them 3-5 times a week to walk or run in it’s time for a new pair of shoes. I often tell my clients that that should be buying a pair of new workout shoes about every 4 months.
Often times knee, hip and back pain can all be the caused from old shoes. Sometimes we never put the two of those things together, but if you think about it if you are in an old pair of shoes that are worn down and have no support you are basically walking on a very flat unsupported surface that doesn’t do anything positive for your feet, knees, hips or back. So I encourage you to go out and find a shoe that you LOVE not just like, but LOVE! A great idea is to go to a running store and have them watch you walk on a treadmill and look at your gate. They can then direct you to a shoe that they feel will be best for you. I suggest that my clients do this at least once to get their feedback and then they can buy the same shoe on there own next time. I believe through my own experience that you should stick with the same brand of shoes that you like. Then when it’s time for a new pair it makes it really easy. Mark in your calender when you buy your shoes and then also mark your calender 4 months later for when it’s time for a new pair. That way you’ll stay on top of your foot wear. For example I love NIKE, I am a NIKE girl, there is no doubt about it! I have a very narrow foot and there running shoes work best for me in my workouts both in cardio and weight training. I just bought a pair of NIKE LUNAR RUNNING SHOES from Big 5 and they are so comfortable yet supportive. So in your quest for finding a shoe for you take the time to shop and remember you don’t have to spend to much money, but there is something said about you get what you pay for right? Quality is important and your feet are worth it, so this would be something that I would splurge on your feet with thank you for it and your workouts with feel AMAZING!
Stay blessed,
